This unusual instrumental appears on Deep Purple, the third album recorded by the supergroup, and features the original line up; it was recorded at De Lane Lea Studios in February and March of 1969, and was released in June that year in the US and November in the UK.
According to the liner notes, the band recorded this when they realized they were going to be in Los Angeles "at earthquake time." The drum track was recorded first - with the organ - and then reversed. "Fault Line" runs straight into the next track, "The Painter." >>>
