Songfacts®:

  • Dej Loaf is a cheerleader on this defiant piano ballad. She told Billboard magazine: "'Goals' was written for anyone who has a dream! A song where I express how to go about life in some situations."
  • The minimal video was one of three that Dej Loaf filmed in one day with director C.J. South in Los Angeles. It features the rapper clad in an all-white ensemble against a mainly white backdrop. Dej said the color scheme was because she wanted viewers to pay attention to her bars. "White is pure. White is clean. White makes you pay attention," she explained. "Honestly I wanted the people keep focused on the lyrics."
