Songfacts®:

  • The lead single from Liberated finds Dej reflecting on a short-lived relationship. She explained to Genius:

"We've all had that one person we probably like kicked it with for a short period of time and it's like, 'Yo. I wish we could still be here,' I want to find someone who understands what I do and I understand what they do and we just click and connect. You know, no arguing, no complaining. Relationships aren't perfect, but you understand what I do, then we have no issues. We're just riding and riding and going anywhere."
  • Dej Loaf wrote the song with newcomer Marlon Hampton and New Orleans-based producer Christoph Andersson, who has previously worked with G-Eazy, Dej Loaf said:

"We all contributed. I wanted to get a male perspective from it. You know, I'm a woman, and I was in the studio with Cristoph and Marlon. They were trying to figure out how it all could make sense, you know? Cristoph produced the record. It's speaking from the heart. It's a real song. It's real experience. The lyrics are exactly what it is. It's not hard to figure out what the song is about, if that makes any sense."
  • The Rubberband-directed music video shows Dej Loaf daydreaming in her bedroom. The singer's imaginations transform into a magic carpet-esque ride on her mattress through a variety of colorful dreamscapes. "Growing up, I used to daydream in my bedroom about everything from love to my career to traveling the world," she explained. "The video sort of reflects that joyful feeling of going from daydreaming to realizing my dreams. My new album is a personal journey and I hope my fans enjoying riding along with me."
  • "No Fear" took off on TikTok thanks to a viral trend. Creators used the song's chorus as a soundtrack while showcasing their relationship texts.
