Songfacts®:

  • Dizzee Rascal worked closely with Wiley during the early part of his career, and he considered the Godfather of Grime to be his mentor. However, the pair fell out, supposedly as the result of an incident where a rival crew left Dizzee in hospital with knife wounds. While Wiley has tried reaching out over the years through tracks like "Letter 2 Dizzee", the Dance Wiv Me rapper had avoided engaging until he recorded this song, Here, Rascal names Wiley on record for the first time in his career.

    I Ain't Even Gonna Lie Tell Willy I don't need a penpal
Stop writing me these letters because I don't know what to do with them
It ain't ever gonna be '03 or '02

"What made me write that song? Being honest with myself," Rascal told NME. "What did I say, anyway? It's just me saying, 'What do you want? This is an imaginary feud.' If I don't feel like working with someone, it don't mean there's no feud."

"I've learnt that putting that stuff out on Twitter don't help a lot of the time, so sometimes you've got to put it in a song," he added.
