Songfacts®:

  • On "Misses" Dominic Fike reminisces about a past relationship. It's clear he wasn't some cad who cast his ex aside like yesterday's newspaper. No, this was genuine affection and he truly loved her.
  • Fike throws the word "miss" around like confetti, a testament to the multifaceted nature of his loss. On one hand, he misses the singular woman who stole his heart. On the other, the sheer act of missing her, that constant ache in his chest, has become a presence in itself. Perhaps that's why the song is titled "Misses," in plural form.
  • Fike wrote and produced the 74-second track himself and recorded it for his short and sweet 14 Minutes EP, released on April 24, 2024. The lively soul-rock track caught fire on social media, helped by placements on Kylie Jenner and The Kid Laroi's TikToks. Fike quickly added it to his live sets at major festivals, and "Misses" entered charts worldwide.
  • Dominic Fike first met actress Hunter Schafer in early 2021 as Euphoria season 2 started filming. While Schafer was already a series regular as Jules, Fike joined the cast during the second season as a new character named Elliot who ends up developing a romance with Schafer's character.

In real life, Fike and Schafer started dating early the following year and went out together for a year and a half before splitting in early summer 2023.

While Fike hasn't exactly come out and declared "Misses"' an ode to Hunter Schafer, the timing and the lovelorn lyrics are hard to ignore.
