Songfacts®:

  • "Is There More" finds Drake pondering whether there's more to life than "feelin' alive." He wonders if he's "missin' somethin' that's more important," such as "healin' my soul, like family time."
  • Drake reveals during the song that Scorpion could well be his last album on Baby's Cash Money Records

It's too bad reality checks don't cover the balances due
    Whenever it's time to recoup
Yeah, soon as this album drop I'm out of the deal
In the house playin' D'Angelo, "How Does It Feel?"

It has been suggested that Scorpion was purposefully made a double album, so that Drake would finish his ninth and tenth albums under Cash Money. This would make him a free agent by fulfilling the contracted requirements of his label deal.
  • Drake has a long history of admiration for Aaliyah, and even sports a tattoo with her image on his back. He sampled her music on his Thank Me Later track, "Unforgettable" and later paid tribute to her in the lyrics for his Take Care tune, "We'll Be Fine." The Toronto MC further expresses his fandom on this track's outro by interpolating the first verse of Aaliyah's 2001 single "More Than a Woman." The co-writer of the late R&B singer's song , Static Major, also has a feature on Scorpion's "After Dark" with Ty Dolla $ign.
  • The More Than a Woman-interpolating outro is sung by Naomi "Nai Palm" Saalfiel, the female lead singer from Australian quartet Hiatus Kaiyote. Nai Palm previously lent her voice to the opening of Drake's 2017 More Life cut "Free Smoke."
