Songfacts®:

  • Here, Drake details his jaded attitude towards a "pretty young thing," who he believes led him on in their relationship. While the Toronto MC was looking to settle down with her, she wanted more time and eventually found herself a new man who "does the same thing" as Drake "for a living but is way less wavy."
  • Some fans have speculated that the girl Drake is singing about is English singer-songwriter Jorja Smith. The then 19-year-old singer appeared on two More Life tracks "Jorja Interlude" and "Get It Together." The pair were rumored to be dating at the time, despite the 10 year gap between them and Drake potentially references their age difference and his desire to mentor her on the song's second verse.

You had potential, I coulda shaped it
You went and caved in (ooh yeah)
We coulda waited, I wasn't rushin', difference in ages
You're old enough, but you're still a baby
  • The song was written by Drake in collaboration with his engineer Noel Cadastre who also produced the track.
  • "Jaded" features background vocals from Ty Dolla $ign. The Californian singer-songwriter also features on another Scorpion track "After Dark."
