  • Aubrey Drake Graham was born on October 24, 1986 in Toronto, Canada to African American drummer Dennis Graham, who has worked with Jerry Lee Lewis, and Jewish Canadian educator Sandi Graham. Drake's parents divorced when he was five years old, and his mom raised him in Toronto. This piece of late-night soul balladry finds Drake thanking his family, over Static Major background vocals and a Chase N. Cashe beat for their support when he "was just another kid in a drop top Lexus hopin' that I don't get arrested." The track finishes with a phone message left for Drake by his grandmother, in which she thanks him for keeping her living well in her old age.
  • Drake had a close bond with his grandma, Evelyn Sher, mentioning her on his Thank Me Later track "The Resistance" as well as singing about her on the unreleased song "The Winner." She passed away in 2012 on Thanksgiving Day.
  • Chase N. Cashe's co-production samples the late Static Major and Smoke E. Digglera's "If U Scared, Say U Scared." He first came across the tune one night when he was flicking through the OVO blogspot.

"The bounce that Smoke played in the piano determined everything," Cashe told Genius. "Static was snapping. And I just didn't want to interrupt that bounce. The piano melody came in and something was just telling me like, 'Man, I need to sample this s--t for Drake.' I sampled it from YouTube. It was an amazing piece of music. It was the only way I could get it, so I'm going to get my hands on it."
  • Drake brought his mom, Sandi Graham, on stage during his show at Madison Square Garden on July 25, 2023. She sat next to her son on a couch while he rapped "Look What You've Done" and was visibly emotional during the performance. When Drake gave her a hug afterward, the tears flowed.
