Songfacts®:

  • Here, Drake addresses a woman who has let him down and left him feeling heartbroken.

First time in a long time
    Hurtin' deeply inside

This is not the first time a female has betrayed Drake's trust. He is deeply disappointed in what she has done, and things will never be the same between them.
  • Chris Brown joins Drake on the track, contributing backing vocals throughout. The pair first worked together in 2010 when Drake recorded a remix of Brown's "Deuces." Drizzy and Breezy fell out soon afterwards because of their shared romantic interest in Rihanna. The first sign of a reconciliation between them was their joint appearance on "Only," a Nicki Minaj track recorded in 2014. Five years later, the Toronto MC jumped on Brown's "No Guidance" single. "Not You Too" is the fourth collaboration between the two.
  • Noel Cadastre, Drake's longtime engineer, supplied the beat. His other production credits include the Scorpion tracks "Finesse," "Jaded" and "That's How You Feel."
