Songfacts®:

  • Here, a lonely Drake is parked up outside a former girlfriend's home. As he sits in his Mercedes-AMG vehicle, the Toronto rapper reflects on their relationship. He acknowledges that while he still wants to be with her, there were compatibility issues because of his "unconventional" lifestyle - seems the OVO leader was too busy to give her much of his time ("time flies"). Drake regrets this and wishes their romance had worked out.
  • Drake originally wrote this as a collaboration with Future. It was his backup plan in case their "Life Is Good" hookup didn't work out.
  • Swiss producer OZ supplied the soft, synthesizer-laced instrumentation. He also came up with the beat for "Toosie Slide" and co-produced "Life Is Good."
  • Singer-songwriter Tori Kelly recorded her own interpretation during the COVID-19 lockdown. The poignant acoustic version is included on her Solitaire EP as a nod to her early days of posting covers to YouTube.
