  • Only in Dreams was recorded in Josh Homme's Pink Duck studios and deals with the trauma of parental loss and emotional distance. "I write about what I know," Dee Dee (aka singer and guitarist Kristen Gundred) told Mojo magazine. "With the first album I had my whole life to draw on; this second deals with recent events, detachment, loss, separation. It's how I come to terms with things."
  • During the writing and recording of and recording of Only in Dreams, Dee Dee had to deal with the trauma of watching her mother die. She told Spinner that she wrote this song, "pretty quickly after the situation came about. It was a very sudden diagnosis and things changed very, very drastically very quickly."
