Songfacts®:

  • Easy Life is a British band from Leicester formed in 2017 by frontman Murray Matravers, his school friend bassist Sam Hewitt, drummer Olly Cassidy, guitarist Lewis Berry, and keyboard player Jordan Birtles. They had played in various groups across the English East Midlands before discovering their shared love of hip-hop, punk, funk and jazz.
  • This song is an examination of pop culture and the link between death and stardom. Its genesis was Easy Life's first visit to California in April 2019 when they were playing Coachella. The band observed LA's obsession with dead celebrities as they drove past Dearly Departed Tours and the Artifact Museum with its centerpiece of Jayne Mansfield's death car. "Even a hotel we were staying in is supposed to be haunted by Marilyn Monroe," Matravers told the BBC.
