Songfacts®:

  • Frontman Alex Ebert declares on this song that he's grown weary of organized religions. He simply believes in love and he's sure "God approves this message."
  • The video was directed by the Berlin-based Israeli filmmaker Noaz Deshe, winner of the Venice festival "Lion of the Future" award for his debut movie White Shadow. It was filmed just outside Chisanau, the capital of the eastern European country of Moldova. Deshe explained the clip's concept to Nowness:

"You find time stands still [in Moldova]-communism and religion are still the backdrop of an identity not yet conquered by the east or the west. It seems like any minute chain stores will spring up, but for now it is undefined by the powers that be. I was struck by the beauty of an identity not yet overtaken by what has become all-too familiar-the song struck that chord with me."
