Songfacts®:

  • El Chombo is a pseudonym for Panamanian reggae producer Rodney Clark, who found himself an unexpected celebrity in the UK in 2006 thanks to his tongue in cheek nonsense hit "Chacarron Macarron."
  • This reggaetón recording was first released in a shorter form on El Chombo's album Cuentos De La Cripta 2 under the name "Introduccion B (El Cosita Remix)". On October 16, 2017, Dailymotion user ArtNoux uploaded a computer-animated video of a green alien named Popoy dancing to a remix of the tune under the video name "Popoy – Dame Tu Cosita." Several months later, in early February 2018, the video was uploaded to YouTube and it quickly went viral, sending the song into the Hot 100.
