Songfacts®:

  • Ellie Goulding penned this song for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack despite never having read any of Suzanne Moore's original novels. "I actually didn't [read any of the books], but I know enough about it — I saw the first film, I know enough about it to write a song for it," Goulding told MTV News. "I actually wrote ['Mirror'] about someone, and then I converted it slightly for Hunger Games, because I spoke to the director, and he loved the song so much and wanted it to be about the film.

"He wanted me to talk about the themes and stuff like that," she continued. "[I re-worked it] and I love it now. It works; it's perfect now."
