Songfacts®:

  • The second single from Estelle's True Romance album, this empowerment anthem was released on September 9, 2014.
  • This song featured on the Unto the Breach episode of the Fox TV drama Empire. Estelle also co-starred on the show as famous artist Delphine, who gets close to Jussie Smollett's character Jamal Lyon. She explained to The Boombox the part came about after the show's producers heard the tune and asked if they could use it for a scene. "I said sure and then they told me it was a scene with one of my peoples Jussie and I've known him for a few years," she said. "I met him when I lived in LA for a year or two. I was like, 'Oh hell yeah,' because Jussie can actually sing; he's got a great voice. It just made sense, especially the storyline with his father being so far from caring about his sexuality."
  • Asked whether re-recording this as a duet with Jussie Smollett changed the way she viewed the song or its meaning, Estelle replied: "Not at all. we both relate to it in the same way... so it just helped the message reach more people."
