Songfacts®:

  • This is a run-of-the-mill song from Irving Berlin's 1946 musical Annie Get Your Gun, based loosely on the life of sharp shooter Annie Oakley. In the original production it is performed by Ethel Merman with chorus. The third song - excluding the Overture - it is a fairly weak number in a production that produced only two memorable songs: "You Can't Get A Man With A Gun" and the classic "There's No Business Like Show Business." It has though been fairly widely recorded including by Dinah Shore. >>>
