Songfacts®:

  • Coping with a world that can seem overwhelming is a theme that shows up in several Eurythmics songs, including "When Tomorrow Comes," where Annie Lennox can block out her anxieties knowing that no matter what, her dear lover will be there in the morning. A very upbeat song, it was released as the first single from their fifth album, Revenge.
  • This is one of the few Eurythmics songs with a songwriting credit going to an outside writer. Patrick Seymour, who played keyboards on the track, wrote it along with the Eurythmics duo of Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart.
  • That's Clem Burke from Blondie on drums and Jimmy "Z" Zavala on saxophone. John McKenzie played bass and Michael Kamen arranged the orchestra. Eurythmics could make music with just synthesizers and drum machines, but they used mostly live musicians on the Revenge album.
  • By Eurythmics standards, the video is very conventional, with no purple cow or exploding orchestras. But we do get to see Annie Lennox do a bit of dancing and catch a glimpse of Dave Stewart during one of his particularly interesting hair periods. Stewart directed the video with his longtime collaborator Chris Ashbrook.
