Songfacts®:

  • Found Wandering is a Philadelphia-based bluegrass collective known for an eclectic mix of covers and recordings of various Christmas songs. "Gold Underground" is their first original song - it was written by the husband-and-wife leaders of the group, Colin and Sarah Comstock. In our interview with the Comstocks, Colin explained: "The song is about trying to uncover our potential, to grow into the people that we are intended to be, and how difficult that can be, even impossible without the relentless love and support of God and the community of friends and family."
  • Colin and Sarah came up with this song when they were on vacation in Charleston, South Carolina. Colin discovered a ukulele at the house where they were staying, and they worked on the song at night during their trip.
