• The "Be More Kind" title is based on a line from a Clive James poem first published in the June 3, 2013 issue of The New Yorker in which the Australian broadcaster and author describes his own mortality. Turner explained to HMV.com:
  
  "He's one of my favorite writers and he's terminally ill and he's been writing poems about the end of his life. In a poem called 'Leçons des ténèbres', he writes 'I should have been more kind. It is my fate. To find this out, but find it out too late'. For a man of his wisdom can say that I think it's a lesson worth paying attention to."
• This is the title track of Turner's seventh studio album. He explained: "I wrote the song and I felt like I'd wandered into the right tone, it always felt like the title track."
