Songfacts®:

  • Strange Lady In Town is a 1955 film that starred Greer Garson as a doctor in the Wild West. Lady doctors were indeed an oddity in the 1880s, on both sides of the Atlantic. The title song has music by Dimitri Tiomkin with lyrics by Ned Washington, and was performed originally by Frankie Laine with Mitch Miller and his Orchestra.

It is less odd than forgettable, but half a century and more on, one person who didn't forget it was Barry Carr of Fleetwood, Lancashire. In October 2017, the "neighbor from Hell" appeared in court charged with harassing his new neighbours over an 18-month period. One of the things he was alleged to have done was play two songs continually over a loud speaker loop, one of which was "Strange Lady In Town." >>>
