Songfacts®:

  • Clark originally penned this song when he was in his late teens. He told Artist Direct: "It's about trying to hold onto relationships and whatnot. When you're young, people go off to college or move to different towns. It's basically that experience, and it's one of those things which is still relevant. Things are always moving, and you never can tell what might happen. That's where that song comes from."
  • The song was first heard on his 2010 Gary Clark Jr. EP. A live acoustic version that was recorded in Los Angeles can also be heard on Clark's 2011 EP Bright Lights. In 2012, it was included on his major-label debut album, Blak and Blu.
