Gavin Adcock is a country singer-songwriter known for rowdy lyrics "no-filter" storytelling. He sings it like he sees it.
He grew up on his family's cattle farm in Watkinsville, Georgia, and credits his work ethic to his father's farm discipline and his mother's long nursing shifts.
He attended Oconee County High School, where he played football as a defensive end and offensive guard, earning All-Region honors twice. Adcock later played college football at Georgia Southern University.
Adcock was suspended and removed from Georgia Southern's football team in 2021 after a viral video showed him drinking beer on the bus before a game.
Adcock sustained a significant knee injury in spring 2021 during football practice. This setback led him to focus on songwriting during his recovery, and he transitioned to music. He recorded and released his first original single, "Ain't No Cure," while recovering from his injury.
His breakout hit, "A Cigarette," amassed over 150 million streams and helped his 2024 album Actin' Up Again become one of the most-streamed country debuts of the year.
Adcock keeps his songwriting simple, a style that has helped him stay true to his voice. "I'm not very musically minded," he admitted to Country Central.

He credits his producer, Jay Rodgers, for creating an open, collaborative environment where they can experiment until they find exactly the right sound.
When it comes to lyrics, Adcock lets inspiration strike wherever it will. "I write a lot driving down the road," he said. "I'll just hit record, start freestyling on a beat, and see what comes out."
Adcock is candid about living life at full tilt without apology. "I always like to party and raise hell, and I come from a wild family," he said.
Adcock has faced legal issues, including an arrest in May 2025 for reckless driving and violating the open container law in Tennessee. He was previously arrested in 2023 for driving with a suspended license.
He is outspoken about the country genre's boundaries, creating a stir in June 2025 by criticizing Beyoncé's album Cowboy Carter when it topped the Country chart. Adcock contended that lifelong country artists should not have to compete with pop stars.
