Songfacts®:

  • The New Zealand-born singer/songwriter Gin Wigmore wrote this piano-and-voice love song about her husband, Jason Butler. The pair met when they were performers at the 2013 Warped Tour (Butler fronts the band Letlive). A year later, he took her to Hawaii, proposed, and they got married the next day.

Some of the other songs on the Blood to Bone album (including "Written in the Water") were borne out of Wigmore's previous relationship, which didn't end well. "I Will Love You" finds her assured in her love, which she knows is forever:

If you die before I do
I know that heartache will kill me too
So if I ever lived again
It would be to find you
  • In our interview with Wigmore, she said that she has a deep connection with this song. "It is a song relating to my most current state of mind which is for the most part a place of pure contentment and love," she said.
"I am not very familiar with this frame of mind, but I assure you that it's a welcome feeling and something I hope to have stick around a while."
