Songfacts®:

  • Godsmack lead singer Sully Erna wrote this song about Werewolves. The first verse is the point of view of the wolf (Sully) singing to the human side of his soul. The second verse is the opposite.
  • The dialogue in the beginning is from the program Mysterious Forces Beyond, a 1995 series of documentaries exploring myths and phenomena such as death and the paranormal, miracles, psychic powers, the existence of aliens, etc.
  • The song first appeared on Godsmack's 1997 debut album, All Wound Up..., before they got a record deal. After they signed with Republic Records, the album was reworked and released as Godsmack in 1998. On both albums, it's the first track.
