Songfacts®:

  • According to the book An American Band: The Story of Grand Funk Railroad by Billy James, this was Grand Funk vocalist Mark Farner's favorite from the All the Girls in the World Beware!!! sessions. He said: "It's about the wild spirit that I feel in me. I think that everybody is wild but we're in this captive world."
  • Grand Funk was wild-ly popular at this time, and very prolific. All the Girls in the World Beware!!! was the second album they released in 1974 despite a rigorous touring schedule. It kept the hits coming, with "Some Kind of Wonderful" and "Bad Time." The group burned out two years later and called it quits. They got back together for a few years in the early '80s, then in the late '90s settled in as a popular live act with more than enough hits to pack a setlist.
