Songfacts®:

  • Lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong wrote "Haushinka" for a girl he met when the band was on tour in Japan. He remembered her name because of how unusual it was, so he wrote a song about her.
  • This song was written in Green Day's early days and was intended for their 1994 album Dookie. The band didn't like the sound of it at the time, but a demo version leaked out and the band started hearing from fans who liked the song, so they decided to include it as one of the 18 tracks on their 1997 album Nimrod.
  • Green Day performed "Haushinka" live for the first time in almost 30 years during their August 30, 2025, show at Parque Estadio Nacional in Chile, sliding it into the setlist as the 10th song of a 22-song performance.
