Songfacts®:

  • This song originally came from four young co-writers who are from outside the rock world: Ingrid Andress, Andre Davidson, Michael Pollock and Stephen Puth. The latter is the younger brother of singer-songwriter star Charlie Puth. When Halestorm's A&R guy brought their demo to the band, it was half-written, and he thought they could transform it one of their own. However revamping the pop songwriters tune into their rockier sound turned out to be a real battle for the quartet. Lzzy Hale recalled to Backstage Axxess: "We'll try anything, so we ended up writing this song and re-writing it about nine times. Our first version of it ended up being this hard rock, balls-to-the-wall... it didn't really work with lyrically how I was kind of wrapping up the song."

The band were conflicted whether to include it on Vicious, before finally settling at the last-minute for a more mellow, minimalist interpretation. Lzzy Hale said: "We got to the point at the end - 'Should we even put it on the record? This is silly.' But we ended up doing it anyway, and what it is what it is, but that was the most difficult nut to crack, because it didn't start out with the nucleus of us, so it was kind of hard to figure out how to make it work on the record."
