Songfacts®:

  • Inspired by playing Donovan's Greatest Hits on their tour bus, Happy Mondays included this track in his honor on their third album, Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches. Frontman Shaun Ryder went one further by later fathering a child with Donovan's daughter Oriole Nebula.
  • Donovan told NME: "It's always an honor even if you're being put down in a song because you're being spoken about. I was very happy to be honored by the Mondays and I didn't mind that they nicked my tune either!"
