Songfacts®:

  • Like many Hawkwind tracks, "Star Cannibal" has a sci-fi theme. In this instance it's about aliens who devour Homo sapiens for dinner.

Frontman Dave Brock told Uncut. "We used to read a lot of sci-fi books: Asimov, Philip Jose Farmer. Often that's how I got ideas for the songs. Star Cannibal was from a book called the Nets of Space (by Emil Petaja) about these creatures who go around different galaxies finding humans and eating them."
