Songfacts®:

  • Hinds is a Spanish indie-rock band that sprung from the duo Deers, consisting of vocalists/guitarists Carlotta Cosials and Ana Garcia Perrote. They became Hinds in 2014 after including Ade Martin on bass and Amber Grimbergen on drums (plus the Canadian band The Dears threatened to sue them if they didn't change their name).

The band told NME the single "Garden" is about not taking life too seriously because in the end the things you're stressing over don't matter.
  • Lots of different lyrics are floating around for this tune because Hinds would sing provisional lyrics during live shows while they were still working on finishing the song.
  • Director Pedro Martin-Calero's music video that follows a couple's surreal and colorful outing was inspired by Jean-Luc Godard's 1965 film Pierrot le Fou. Carlotta Cosials explained: "We had this image of this character, like a person that knows everything and he's more brave than you, and more clever than you, and he kind of teaches you life and stuff... [In the movie], they ran away looking for something, but in the end what you're looking for is yourself."
