Songfacts®:

  • This rock tune from the Backstreet Boys' Howie D, featured on his solo children's album, is about overcoming nighttime fears of monsters lurking in the dark. Howie was inspired by his son James, who was struggling with bad dreams. "One morning, he woke up and he was like, 'Daddy, I have these monsters in my head and I don't know what's going on,'" Howie told Songfacts in 2019. "He was just starting to understand what dreams were all about at the time. And he would say, 'It's scary, how long have I been sleeping?' I had to tell him, 'It's okay, it was just a dream.' But I was like, Monsters in my head, that's a good one."
