Songfacts®:

  • In This Moment's first single, "Prayers" was released in 2006 ahead of their debut album, Beautiful Tragedy. The lyric reflects frontwoman Maria Brink's journey and her take on religion. Raised in the Albany, New York area, she dropped out of high school when she had her son at 15. Soon after, she made her way to Los Angeles, where she connected with guitarist Chris Howorth and formed At This Moment.
  • Maria Brink broke her nose during the video shoot for this song, which was filmed in a chapel. She told MTV News, "I literally got my head split open during the shoot. I have a big scar across my face. The [camera] dolly came a little close, and I was headbanging, and we just collided and my whole face split open. There was blood all over the place." The band's management tried to call off the shoot to let Brink recoup, but she insisted they finish the filming of the video. "We just iced it and glued it shut," she said. "My hair's in my face for much of the video, to cover up the cut on my face." >>>
