Songfacts®:

  • "Incubus" get their Red Hot Chilli Peppers vibe on with "Azwethinkweiz," a compressed version of "As We Think We Is." The song explores the relationship between perception and reality, a common theme in lead singer Brandon Boyd's lyrics.
  • One of the earliest Incubus songs, this was first released on their 1995 EP Let Me Tell Ya 'Bout Root Beer, and in 1997 it showed up on their EP Enjoy Incubus. On that one, the band used goofy nicknames for their credits, like "Brandon of the Jungle" (Boyd) and "Dynamike" (Mike Einziger).
  • At the end of the song there is a backwards vocal. If you record it on your computer and reverse it you will hear something like, "One night we smoked indigo and Azwethinkweizim was born." >>>

  • Zero from Nowhere, NjI've created my own definition - When ever I see something out of the corner of my eye and then I turn my head and I see nothing (does this ever happen to anyone else?) I always say, "I think I thought I saw an Azwethinkweiz!" to which the people around me proceed to respond, "Dude, WTF?!"
