Songfacts®:

  • In his book Carpet Burns... frontman Tom Hingley says "I Know I'm Losing You" was recorded at The Windings, a studio in Wrexham, along with "Dragging Me Down" and "Smoking Her Clothes."

After some discussion it was decided "Dragging Me Down" would be the next single and "I Know I'm Losing You" would be the B-Side.

This latter was mixed at Studio 16 in Rochdale where he was the only band member present. He and engineer Paul Rabiger decided "to throw the kitchen sink at the song and it came out as a psychedelic classic."
  • The single was released initially February 17, 1992 on the Cow label; the 7-inch version contained one version of each song, and the 12-inch, three versions of "Dragging Me Down" while Track 2 on the A-Side was the unedited version of "I Know I'm Losing You." >>>
