Songfacts®:

  • James Blake co-wrote this ballad full of lovelorn longing with Frank Ocean. Blake also helped Ocean write music for the American's album Blonde, co-penning and playing keyboards on the tracks "Solo," "Solo (Reprise)" and "Godspeed."
  • The song's black-and-white music video was filmed in Los Angeles by American director Anna Rose Holmer who is best known for her 2015 debut film The Fits. The clip stars a heavily pregnant Natalie Portman swimming underwater. Everything moves slowly, reflecting the song's pacing and mood. with the emphasis of the track's lyrics shifting from lovelorn romanticism to maternal anticipation. The visual was reportedly shot a few days before Portman gave birth to her second child, Amalia in February 2017.

Portman previously starred in the video for Devendra Banhart's 2007 track "Carmensita," after which the two began a year-long relationship. She has also appeared in two Paul McCartney visuals – the ones for "Dance Tonight" and "My Valentine."
