  • Who needs a walk along the beach to inspire a beautiful lyric when a trip to the bathroom will do just as well? "The song 'Ahead of Myself' came to me whilst walking to the toilet," Lawson explained in a track-by-track commentary. "That's a fact. I don't know why. Again, these things just come out of the blue, and I sang it straight-away: 'I don't wanna get ahead of myself, but isn't this grand?' and I thought, 'That's cool. I like that.'"

"There's a songwriter called Ron Sexsmith ("The Morning Light") who I think is a genius, and it reminded me of something he might write, and I'd been listening to Van Morrison's Moondance album a lot... so I tried to mix the two and see what I got. And I just got this upbeat, hopeful song about jumping into love and trying not to... and then kind of realizing that that's what you do and then doing it anyway, which I thought was a nice idea. I like the idea that though you may know it's not going to work, you still gotta try."
  • Ruadhri Cushnan, an engineer/mixer for the likes of George Michael, Duncan Sheik, and Mumford & Sons, plays guitar and percussion on this track, along with "Someone For Everyone" and "Cold In Ohio."
