  • This track from Janelle Monae's debut EP The Audition finds her recalling getting sacked from her job selling ink and erasers at Office Depot. The young singer had been caught using a computer to update her MySpace page and communicate with fans on her website.
  • Big Boi got to hear the song, setting off a chain of events that eventually led to an artistic friendship, which helped inspire Monáe's move from New York to Atlanta. The OutKast star was the co-executive producer of Monáe's The ArchAndroid album and also featured on her single, "Tightrope."
  • Monáe re-recorded the song for southern Hip-Hop supergroup, Purple Ribbon All-Stars' 2005 album Got Purp? Vol. 2.
