Songfacts®:

  • This is a track from Electronica 2: The Heart of Noise, an album based around collaborations with other electronic musicians. This song features American singer-songwriter Julia Holter.
  • Uncut magazine asked Julia Holter how she came to collaborate with Jean-Michel Jarre. She replied:

"I was one of 100 people that he contacted! But it was really nice. It was like he put together a track for us to work on together. We met at the Chateau Marmont when he came to LA to meet with many more famous musicians -and then also me! He showed me the music he'd set up for us. So I went home and very quickly made lyrics and a melody over it. I think I added one synth thing.

He was easy to work with -what he'd put together was a very quick process, which I enjoyed. I have a very DIY way of recording my vocals, and he was fine with that. If there was noise, or hiss, or distortion on the vocal, he didn't care. He wanted it to be free, like the first take was."
