  • Jennie Kim, known professionally by her mononym Jennie, is one of K-pop's most recognizable stars, both as a member of the phenomenally successful group Blackpink and as a solo artist. She is also a recognized fashion icon, actress, and influential social media personality.
  • Jennie Kim was born in Bundang, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Her mother is a director and shareholder of the media company CJ E&M, while her father owns a hospital. She is their only child.
  • Jennie spent her early childhood in South Korea until around the age of 8, when her family moved to New Zealand. She attended Waikowhai Elementary School as an exchange student and later studied at ACG Parnell College.

When she was around 14 years old, her mother wanted her to move to Florida in the United States to continue her education with the aim of becoming a lawyer or teacher. Jennie decided to pursue music instead and returned to South Korea.
  • Jennie successfully auditioned for YG Entertainment in 2010, performing Rihanna's "Take A Bow." In August 2016, she officially debuted as a member of BlackPink alongside Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa with their EP Square One and the double A-side singles "Boombayah" and "Whistle." She gained recognition for her sharp rap delivery and commanding stage presence.
  • When Jennie appeared on the South Korean variety show Running Man, a video of her reaction in a horror room went viral, accumulating millions of views across various platforms. This led to her being selected as one of the best variety stars of 2018.
  • Jennie launched her solo career in November 2018 with the aptly titled "Solo." The song topped South Korea's Circle Digital Chart and the Billboard World Digital Songs chart, while its video was the first by a Korean female soloist to surpass one billion views on YouTube.
  • Jennie was the first Korean solo artist to perform at Coachella. She achieved this milestone during BlackPink's set at the festival on April 12 and 19, 2019, where she performed "Solo."
  • In 2023 she made her acting debut in the HBO series The Idol using the stage name Jennie Ruby Jane.
  • Jennie stands at approximately 163 cm (5'4") tall. One of the most influential fashion icons in K-pop, she is dubbed "Human Chanel," having been an ambassador for the luxury brand since 2018. She also collaborates with Calvin Klein and other high-end labels, frequently setting trends.
  • Onstage, Jennie exudes confidence and charisma, delivering fierce performances in songs like "Kill This Love" and "Shut Down." Offstage, she is known for her soft, playful personality, as seen in BlackPink's variety show moments.
  • Jennie is fluent in Korean, English, and Japanese and has also learned basic French. Her linguistic abilities have contributed to her versatility as an artist, particularly supporting her transition from vocalist to rapper during her training period, as she was the only trainee fluent in English at YG Entertainment at that time.
  • Though Jennie's solo song "Zen" aligns with Buddhist philosophy, she was raised in a Christian household and keeps her spiritual life private.
  • She owns two dogs, Kai and Kuma, with Kuma often featuring in BlackPink V-Live broadcasts.
  • Jennie was invested as an Honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by King Charles III on November 22, 2023, at Buckingham Palace. The King awarded the recognition to Jennie and her Blackpink bandmates for their role as COP26 Advocates during the COP26 Summit in Glasgow in 2021.
