  • Jeremy Camp kicks off his The Answer album with this celebratory anthem about what it means to have hope in Christ. Jeremy Camp explained the story behind the song to NewReleaseToday:

"As I've gotten older, I've gone back to the basics of the joy of my salvation, thinking about Scripture like 'return to me the joy of my salvation.' I've been thinking about Scriptures that talk about how 'we were once dead in our trespasses, but we've been made alive in Christ."'

When you walk with the Lord and watch people's transformation as they've been walking with Him, there's an excitement of thinking about having the joy of someone who was literally dead, spiritually, and that God looked at them like He looked at Lazarus and called them forth out of the grave. If you're dead, you are in a grave. Just like He physically called Lazarus out of the grave, He called us spiritually out the grave. For me, the concept of that had me thinking about how to express that in this song: 'You called me out of the grave...there's a new song in my soul and it begins when I breathe in Your Word of life.'

That took me to the Scripture where Jesus was talking to His disciples and telling them that if they wanted to follow after Him, they needed to eat of His flesh and drink of His blood. A lot of the disciples said that was too difficult for them to understand, and instead of loving Him and following Him, a lot of them left because it didn't make sense and they didn't like what He was saying and it sounded difficult. Jesus looked at Peter and He said, 'What about you? Are you going to leave too?' Peter said, 'Where else are we going to go? You have the words of eternal life.' Peter was taken out of his place of having nothing and no hope, and given the hope of having His Redeemer and Messiah. He understood that Jesus gave him the Word of life. That's what this song is about."
