Songfacts®:

  • Jessica Pratt's third album, Quiet Signs, straddles two very different inspirations: a relocation to Los Angeles from North California, and falling in love. Q Magazine asked her how she sought to capture such distinct sensations in music. She replied: "I really feel I don't have a lot of control over what comes out, it feels like being a vessel. Melodies emerge and have certain properties you can attach to something darker or something more buoyant and happy. And often those emotions fuse."

Pratt calls up this song where she reflects on the lingering euphoria of a past relationship as an example. "It is definitely a love song," she nodded, "but I feel it rhythmically, and in some of the chords in there, it feels a little murky."
