• This is the lead single by English singer Jessie J from the re-release of her debut studio album. The song was produced by Dr. Luke, the man responsible for hit singles for the likes of Britney Spears ("Hold It Against Me"), Kelly Clarkson ("My Life Would Suck Without You") and Katy Perry ("E.T."). It was released on August 30, 2011 on iTunes and Amazon.
• The song gave Jessie her second UK #1 following her second single "Price Tag." It was also the singer's fifth top 10 single from her debut album, Who You Are.
• According to Jessie, her primary influence for this song was Whitney Houston's 1987 chart-topper "I Wanna Dance With Somebody."
  
  "People have heard 'Domino' and said, 'It's nothing like you.' But I'm like, 'Well, the album's really eclectic anyway, and I never go into the studio and say, 'I wanna do another song that's like Price Tag or another song like Do It Like a Dude," Jessie told MTV News. "I listened to a lot of Whitney [Houston] and Prince ... and we kinda just wanted to write a song that's timeless, that's fun and uplifting."
• Whilst this was Jessie's first Hot 100 Top 10 hit, it was the 36th and 29th, respectively, for co-writers Max Martin and Dr. Luke (Lukasz Gottwald). Luke had an astonishing five hits on the charts around this time, as he also contributed to "Brokenhearted" by Karmin, "Good Feeling" by Flo Rida, "Where Have You Been" by Rihanna, and "Part of Me" by Katy Perry.
• Will Loomis of California pop rock band Loomis & the Lust slapped a copyright infringement suit on Jessie and her record label regarding "Domino." He claimed she stole a significant portion of this song from his track "Bright Red Chords," which appeared on Loomis & the Lust 's 2009 EP, Nagasha.
  
  After a three year legal battle, the 9th Circuit ruled in favor of Jessie J and the other songwriters.
• Jessie performed the song at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert in June 2012. "When I wrote this melody in my garage I never imagined it would be sung for the King and Queen of England," wrote Loomis on his band's Facebook page. "I especially never imagined it would be sung by Jessie J."
• Music licensing company PPL announced that this song had the most plays on radio and in public places in the UK in 2012. Though the tune was released in 2011, it took some weeks to climb the charts before spending two weeks at #1 in February 2012.
