Songfacts®:

  • The lead single from John Legend's Darkness & Light album, the singer wrote and produced the song with Blake Mills (Alabama Shakes) and John Ryan (One Direction).
  • John Legend sings here of savouring the love he has now, instead of worrying about how he'll feel when it all ends.

I don't know who's gonna kiss you when I'm gone
So I'm gonna love you now, like it's all I have

Legend said in a statement, "'Love Me Now' is all about living and loving to the fullest, no matter what tomorrow may bring."
  • John Legend landed his highest Hot 100 debut to date when this song arrived on the chart at #55.
  • The video was shot by Nabil Elderkin, who also directed Legend's "PDA (We Just Don't Care)" and "All Of Me" clips. The visual takes the viewer to various locations throughout the world embroiled in turmoil such as Domiz Refugee Camp in Northern Iraq, Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida, Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic and Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota, as we see couples from various ethnic backgrounds expressing their love to one another. In the middle of it all is Legend, his wife, Chrissy Teigen, and their infant daughter Luna, cozying up to one another and laughing.

Elderkin said about visual's message, "This video shows how love can be shared in some of the most difficult situations on earth in which the human spirit and connection with each other prevails. From one of the longest standing refugee camps in northern Iraq just 45 miles outside of Mosul, to Standing Rock Reservation where they are fighting against the Dakota Access Pipeline that threatens their sacred lands and all of our water, it is a glimpse into these couples' lives and the lives of those in their communities."
