Songfacts®:

  • Jojo was 13 when this was released. The song deals with relationship problems typical of a girl her age, namely a breakup with a boyfriend who started seeing someone else. Jojo said that she could relate to the song, as she knows what it's like to feel disrespected in a relationship. >>>

  • The song deals with the emotional tribulations of an adolescent girl, but it was written by four men: Alex Cantrall, Ken Karlin, Carsten Schack and Phillip White.

Schack and Karlin are the Danish production duo Soulshock and Karlin, and they produced the track; White is a veteran songwriter whose credits include "I Like Them Girls" by Tyrese and "Strings Of Love" by George Benson; Cantrall also co-wrote "Truth Is" by Fantasia and "Tell Me" by Dru Hill.
  • As concern over coronavirus escalated across the world in March 2020, people were encouraged to practice social distancing to curb the spread of the pandemic. JoJo recorded a new version of this song titled "Chill (Stay In)", which stresses the importance of self-isolating.

On "Chill (Stay In)," instead of throwing out her beau as he called her friend, JoJo turns him down because he went out rather than staying home with her.

To go behind my back and hit the bar
Shows how immature you really are
    Keep exposure to a minimum
    I'd love a quarantine bae

  • Sara from Union City, TnCant believe I'm going to admit it but I've always liked this song. Can't believe this girl was only 13. Way better than Britney ever thought about being.
  • Jillian from Plainview, NyJojo used to go to school in Leonia, NJ and this song is actually about a friend of mine that she liked. She wanted to go out with him really badly and he wanted nothing to do with it. When she finally convinced him to go on a double date, he made out with her friend.
  • Shay from El Cajon, Cathis song was like my fav song but i also like too little too late (which i'm singing 4 my schools talent show!!)
