Songfacts®:

  • This wallflowering anthem was the first solo success for English singer-songwriter Jona Lewie, though he'd previously been a member of one-hit wonders Terry Dactyl and The Dinosaurs who had a UK #2 hit in 1972 with "Seaside Shuffle." Lewie is probably best known for his Christmas hit "Stop The Cavalry."
  • Whilst Lewie wrote the music for this song, the lyrics were written by the singer's former Terry Dactyl and The Dinosaurs bandmate Keff Trouble.
  • According to legend, this was backing vocalist Kirsty MacColl's first session for Stiff Records. The daughter of folk singer Ewan MacColl, Kirsty went on to scored several pop hits from the early 1980s to the early 1990s. She is best known to many for the Pogues song "Fairytale of New York," on which she dueted with Shane MacGowan.
  • This song returned to the UK charts in October 2010 after it featured in an advert for Ikea Kitchens.
