Songfacts®:

  • Jonas Brothers wrote this song about Mandy Van Duyne. She was a family friend when they were growing up in Wyckoff, New Jersey. Mandy later became Joe Jonas' high school sweetheart.

The Jonas Brothers explained on America Online (AOL): "Mandy is our childhood friend that has always been a part of our lives. She dated Joe at one point. Although they are no longer together, they will be best friends forever."
  • Jonas Brothers released "Mandy" as their debut single on December 27, 2005.
  • When the Jonas Brothers were signed to Columbia Records, American filmmaker Ondi Timoner was hired to shoot their first music video. She was fresh off the success of her documentary DIG!, which chronicles seven years in the lives of The Dandy Warhols and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. The film won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 2004.
  • "Mandy" featured in the Nickelodeon television film Zoey 101: Spring Break-Up. It's also included on Zoey 101: Music Mix soundtrack album for the series.
  • "Mandy" is the sixth track on Jonas Brothers' debut album, It's About Time. The album sold poorly, and Columbia dropped the teen pop act in early 2007. After the guys signed with Hollywood Records in February 2007, their sales picked up and their eponymous second album debuted on the Billboard 200 at #5.
