  • Miley Cyrus was Nick Jonas' first love. They dated from around June 2006 to December 2007 and he still had feelings for her four years later. When rumors circulated that she was set to marry Liam Hemsworth in June 2012, Nick Jonas threw a wobbly.

I don't wanna hear the wedding bells chime!
    Trying to fall asleep
You wake me up cause I'm trying to see the light
    Instead of you in white
  • Jonas and Cyrus first met on June 11, 2006, and the singer was especially distraught when he found out her proposed nuptials were also planned for June.

    Showing you I'm unhappy
    Letting you see my truth
Cause if you recall our anniversary falls
    11 nights into June
  • The Jonas Brothers performed "Wedding Bells" live for the first time on October 11, 2012, at Radio City Music Hall in New York City during the reunion concert of the sibling band. Introducing the song, Nick Jonas told the concertgoers the sometimes songwriters must "dive into subjects that make us uncomfortable and write about them."

However, as time progressed his feelings for Miley also changed, but he couldn't escape what had already been written. "You have to write a song and apologize for it later," he added. "I don't think I've ever written a song that makes me as uncomfortable as this song does."
  • Ryan Seacrest quizzed Miley Cyrus a week after the New York concert on whether she thinks her ex is singing about her. "I don't know who else is getting married, so I feel like that's pretty blatant," she replied.

Miley added that all entertainers can expect to have their experiences recorded in a song. "Everyone has to write songs that are about things that they felt, and he even introduced that this isn't the way that I am," she maintained. "So, you can't ever hate on someone for writing about something you've been through. I think that you kind of get a fair warning when you date an artist and someone that's a writer. When you're going through things that you're going to end up hearing about it on the radio. I don't know... wedding bells are in my future, so I don't know."
  • Miley Cyrus didn't marry Liam Hemsworth in June 2012, but they eventually tied the knot in 2018. The couple split soon after.
  • The Jonas Brothers recorded "Wedding Bells" for their fifth album, V, which was canceled after their breakup. It's one of four studio recordings included on their third live album, LiVe, released to their fan club on November 26, 2013.
