Songfacts®:

  • "Slow Dance in a Parking Lot" is a love ballad in which Jordan Davis relives co-writer Lonnie Fowler's first date with his wife.

The track originated with Fowler telling Davis about how they went to a movie on their date, then on the way home when Garth Brooks came on the radio, they pulled over into a parking lot and started slow dancing. As his co-writer recounted the story the "Slow Dance in a Parking Lot" title jumped out to Davis and he knew they had to write a song about it.
  • Jordan Davis collaborated with director Patrick Tracy for the sentimental video. The storyline follows a young boy through various memorable experiences that all happen to take place in a parking lot: playing hockey with friends, catching his crush's smile, dancing with his high school girlfriend after a football game, getting into a "just married" car, cradling his newly born baby.

"The parking lot has served as a familiar environment for many pivotal moments throughout one's life and the descriptive lyrical content of 'Slow Dance In A Parking Lot' helps paint the picture of one such moment," said Tracy.
