Songfacts®:

  • The title track of Right Here, Right Now, this was Jordin Sparks' first release under her new joint label deal with Louder Than Life. The record finds the songstress going for more of a true R&B sound rather than her previous pop/R&B material.
  • Louder Than Life is headed by Salaam Remi,a producer who has recorded with the likes of Lauryn Hill, Miguel,Nas and the late Amy Winehouse. "I met Salaam while I was filming Sparkle; he was scoring the film," said Sparks. "We recorded together, too, and one time, he pulled me aside and asked me what my favorite song was. I told him 'All The Things Your Man Won't Do' by Joe. That took him aback and made him realize there was something more to me. Salaam was the first person to ask me what I really wanted to do musically; what I wanted my music to sound like."

A short time later Remi asked Sparks to join his roster. "It was destined for us to work together," she said. "With Salaam giving me that freedom, everything just flowed."
  • Sparks said of the recording of this James Fauntleroy and Dem Jointz penned song. "I love how different the vocal of the title track is from what we hear today."
